Smart Lock Specialists

Smart Lock Specialists

Looking for smart lock specialists in your area? Then, we have you covered. At A1 Agent Locksmith, our smart lock specialists provide outstanding services.

By
Smart Lock Specialists Bradenton, FL

Do you have smart keys? Do you even know if you have smart keys? Well the answer is simple and easy to answer. If you have a kwickset, there is a small slot on the left side of the key-way, where you enter your key. If you have a Schlage, then there is a plus sign above the key-way. Smart lock specialist can help you know the difference. Just ask your smart lock specialists today.

Smart Locks came about not very long ago. They were designed for several reasons. First is it so that the regular customer/owner can re-key their locks on their own, without calling a Locksmith. The second reason is to cut costs for landlords for tennant change overs, or if a room mate moves out. Finally and most importantly, they were designed to stop bump keys from being used to gain access to a property. But some of the faults began to weigh the good qualities. Schlage has actually stopped manufacturing their line of Smart Locks due to so many issues. But Kiwkset had a far better design and their locks are still in production today. Despite Schlage stopping manufacturing of their locks some time ago, there are still many left remaining in use. They have successfully marketed their smart locks and sold over 100,000 or more. That is why they consider themselves as smart lock specialists.

Now if you have Smart Locks at your business or residence and are still functioning fine, than theres no need to replace them. But anyways, keep in mind that if you find yourself locked out, there is no picking a kwickset Smart Key. They must be either overridden with a special tool, which if used, will usually allow the last key the lock had produced, still function. Schlage on the other hand can usually be picked by a professional Locksmith, not bump keyed.

So if ever you are in the position of being locked out, make sure you call a qualified Locksmith, like A1 Agent Locksmith. We are your local smart lock specialists. Be aware of unqualified Locksmith that will tell you that the lock can not be picked no matter what. Then claiming the only option left is to drill the lock, forcing you into buying new locks.

If you have Schlage, there is what's called "The Blue Key." This key is to reset the locks and re-key to a different key. Unqualified Locksmiths will tell you again that your locks are useless without the blue key that your lock is keyed to. The answer to that is false. A qualified Locksmith, like A1 Agent Locksmith, will be able to help you.

Being a second generation Locksmith has many advantages. With mainly being a Locksmith all my life, I have seen or done almost everything. Being a Locksmith is like being a mechanic. For example, when you bring your car in for repair, you expect it to be fixed, not replaced. Just like when you call a Locksmith, you expect your locks to be fixed, not replaced. So many unqualified Locksmiths replace Locks all too often, because they do not have the knowledge, training or experience to make necessary repairs needed. So if you have ever been told that your Smart Locks are useless and can not be re-keyed, tell that Locksmith to have a good day and call A1 Agent Locksmith. We have all the tools, training, experience and knowledge to re-key your Smart Locks. Even if there is no blue key available with your Schlage or if there is no key at all with your kwickset. We can and have regularly reset both manufacturers Smart Locks as well as gain entry to your location without ruining your locks, costing you hundreds of dollars.

Keep in mind what I stated from earlier about Kwickset Smart Locks not being able to be picked. No worries, there are alternatives along with cheaper options as well. However, many are proprietary and prefer not to say in this article, due to unqualified Locksmiths gaining knowledge through this article. Just rest assured that you are in good hands if you live in Bradenton, Palmetto, Lake Wood Ranch, Sarasota or Holmes Beach and Anna Maria Island. Because we are usually only 30 minutes or less away. Remember we are the only Locksmith company around who offers On Time Guarantees. Trust in A1 Agent Locksmith and we will show you why we are a number 1 business.

Master Keying

Master Keying

Master keying is great for those who need to have access to multiple doors. By having master keying key, you are able to unlock multiple doors with one key.

By
Master Keying Bradenton, FL

Master keying is a great way to eliminate carrying tons of keys if your a Landlord or a Property Manager. Master keying basically means having one or more keys that belong to a single lock. Sometimes you could have one key that operates several different locks, while keeping them all on a secondary key ring for the residents. I have found Master Keying very useful in the restaurant business where they have a cleaning crew come in after hours to clean the facility. What we will do is make a secondary key that will work only the doors that the cleaning crew needs to be in. This limits the access to where unauthorized people could go. The biggest perk is is that if the cleaning company is terminated, the restaurant then calls us, A1 Agent Locksmith, and we will only have to re-key the locks that were accessed by the prior cleaning company. This not not only save you time and money, but not to mention the redistribution of new keys to the existing managers.

It is the most economical way to key any Business where there is regular to frequent turn overs. Master Keying is also a superb tool with a large business with different levels. For example, there was a stumping company we previously did work for. The President and Vice President needed unrestricted access to every door in the facility. The Clerical Supervisors needed access to only limited areas. Production Managers needed access to other limited areas and all the staff who had private office only had keys to gain access of their office. Master Keying has resolved all of this. Everyone had their own key and supervisors could access only the needed areas of their job requirements. Some locks in the ware house actually accommodated five different keys. That was in order to keep employer keys to a minimum.

Master Keying is also great for residential uses as well. It is good for cleaning staff to enter only one door or as many as needed. Also, if you have an in-house office keyed differently than the rest of the house, but you would only like one key for it. The best example is when a concerned father called A1 Agent Locksmith for help. He stated that his teenagers were sneaking in and out of their house too easily. The home was rather large and I could easily see how the entries/exits were all over the house, which was quite a distance from the parents bedroom. So I suggested a Master Keying option. So I explained how it works and how Master Keying forces traffic flow to any direction wanted. So I then master keyed the detached garage and front doors so his teenagers could only access what they needed and nothing more. This also forced them to using the front door only to get in or to leave. Needless to say, the father has gotten many good nights of sleep since A1 Agent Locksmith secured his residence.

Simply put, Master Keying has many useful advantages, but keep in mind that only qualified Locksmiths know how to Master Key. This is especially when it comes to requiring one lock to accommodate multiple keys, even as many as 5 or more. Those Locksmiths that file keys in order to re-key a lock, then lack the ability to Master Key and then turn around to tell you that your lock does not accommodate Master Keying. Almost all locks can be Master Keyed, even if they are High Security locks and/or padlocks.

If you have troubled teens or nosy cleaning companies in your home, call A1 Agent Locksmith to Master Key your life today. We can save you money, headaches, your personal time as well as the convenience of not having to carry around tons of keys. We are here ready to help you.

Replacing Door Locks

Replacing Door Locks

By replacing door locks around your home, you can be properly secured. Instead of trying to fix broken locks around your home, try replacing door locks.

By
Replacing Door Locks Bradenton, FL

When you think of maintenance to your home, the last thing you would think of would be replacing door locks. That's right, I said that you need to change your locks as much as you would any other maintenance household item. The point of entry to every home or building is a door. Even windows should be locked or protected. However, a window would take more time to climb in to, so the main focus is a door. So why would you not try to protect it from keeping your family and your personal belongings safe? By making sure that all of your locks and dead bolts on you doors are safely secured, you are adding an extra layer of protection from any unwanted guests that may be watching your home.

There are several different reasons as to why it is very important to your home and business to change your locks. Safety is one of the biggest and best reasons why you should protect your home. If you have recently purchased your home or place of business, the first thing you would want to do is replace all of your locks. You do not know who has a key or multiple keys to the lock and you want to protect the personal or office supplies inside. By replacing door locks, you are eliminating the possibility of a previous employee having access to your dwelling without your knowledge. By doing so will make you confident in knowing that you are the only person who has access to your home or business. This is a great feeling when replacing door locks.

If your business or home has an entry access code, you will want to rethink your code. Every business has a dead bolt on every door as well as an electronic security device, usually by the door. Just because you are replacing door locks, doesn't mean you are completely safe. Especially if you have multiple coworkers who know the password to your security alarm. The bes thing you should, in a place of employment, is to give every person their own separate code. By doing this, you will be able to monitor their every move. Let's say an employee opens the door and the alarm goes off. They would enter their pass code and then start their workday. But what that individual doesn't know is if something were to be stolen or comes up missing, they would be the only one responsible. You would know this by them being the only individual entering their code.

Another great reason is that you want to protect what you have worked so hard to achieve, especially when it comes to your home. You want to make sure that you can leave the home and not have to worry about someone breaking in because of a lock that should have been replaced. By replacing door locks, you have now added extra protection that will enable a robber to gain any access into your home. Also, another important place to protect is your office. No matter if you own your own business or are a manager for a large company, you need to protect your assets. Knowing that you have purchased a new office desk or even simple office supplies, and then having them stolen is not something you want to experience. You always want to protect your office building from all unwanted visitors. Usually, it takes a simple step of replacing door locks and changing the pass code.

Have you ever put your key in the dead bolt and be able to wiggle it while the key is still inside? This is a great indication that you are needing to replace your locks. The easiest way for a burglar to break into your home is by wiggling the handle. If you can wiggle it, then it is loose. Just think like a burglar. If you were going to break into a home, you wouldn't want to make it harder on yourself. You would try to find the easiest house to break into without getting caught. With easy access for the burglar, they can then shove something into the handle or jimmy open the lock. Once the door is opened or broken, then they will have full access to your home to take anything that they can get their hands on. You never want to make your home appear to be an easy target. Try putting security signs outside your home to pretend that you have a security system. Nobody will know if you truly do or not, only you. Once they have broken into your home, then will probably try it again.

Knowing what needs to be done to protect your home can be a very easy task, once you know what to look for. Just like any other maintenance in your home, you must inspect weekly, monthly or even yearly. Checking all the locks and dead bolts on every door in your home or office should be on that maintenance list. Protection and safety is your biggest strength. It can also be your biggest weakness. If you are not fully protected and secured, then you are setting yourself open to theft and break-ins. Your main focus is to protect yourself, your family and your co-workers, by replacing door locks.

About A1 Agent Locksmith. We are a family owned and operated, full service mobile, Locksmith company, who was born and raised in Bradenton, Florida. We are a second generation Locksmith with many years (almost a lifetime), of experience. One thing about us is that we never beat around the bush or mislead you in any way, when it comes to pricing. So many companies out there try very hard to avoid talking prices over the phone. This is because they Will over charge you. We are up front and believe in Flat Rate Pricing. That is defined as all prices quoted to you include Labor. Several companies today, will charge you for a product or service, then quote you another price for the product or service you received. However, what so many fail to mention is their business has an hourly rate. For example, if your pricing quotes for 2 locks to be re-keyed and a lock to be replaced, many will quote you the price for each individual re-key prices, plus however much for the lock. So let's say it is $16 per lock to be re-keyed, plus $69 for the new replacement lock, your probably under the impression your total will equal $101. Where they catch you is, if the job takes 30-45 minutes to re-key and install the locks, then guess what? You will be paying whatever the cost of 30-45 minutes worth of labor on top of the total. Not here at A1 Agent Locksmith. Learn more about A1 Agent Locksmith and our fees. All of our prices include labor. What you are quoted is what you will ALWAYS pay. That is also why our prices may seem to be more on the higher end of prices in Bradenton. The only time there will ever be an exception that we would charge you an hourly rate, is when a repair is requested and that repair takes up a substantial amount of time.

Here at A1 Agent Locksmith, we believe Quality far out weighs Quantity. We also believe in Function over Form. We always provide or sell the best products available to Locksmiths. Never will you find after we leave, the same locks that we installed into your home, at Home Depot or Lowe's. That is because when we arrive at or your or job site, our trucks are fully equipped with everything needed to give our customers premier service. Our technicians are not going to tell you that they need to go back to the office because they left something or even saying "I don't have any left on my truck." Be rest assured that whenever you hear a Locksmith say that, watch out! That will usually mean going to the "office" is really going to Home Depot to pick up the item. Then adding insult to injury, the technician will charge you double what they paid for the item. Basically, you are paying for the consequence of an unstocked work truck because of the unqualified locksmith that you hired without doing research. This is also another reason our prices are what they are. We always stand behind our products and services!

About A1 Agent Locksmith

You must ask yourself, how can anyone stay in business and continue to do business like that very long? Especially when they're continually being called back to repair an inferior product? The answer is not very long at all. Not to mention, several of those unqualified locksmith's that sell "bargain locks" will never return to stand behind their products. Once they have the money in their hands, then they are gone. We here at A1 Agent Locksmith, will always give the customer several options to choose from. Deadbolts Go Digital

Deadbolts Go Digital

We want to tell you about how deadbolts go digital. The new technology has enhanced security. An created new locks that help old deadbolts go digital.

By
Deadbolts Go Digital Bradenton, FL

It was stated that on Sept. 14, digital entrance doorway dead locks have been accessed in the newest era. Even though Locksmith products have caught up with technology, you must still have a key to be able to unlock the door. It is said that digital aspect is very convenient but your safety is the biggest concern, which is what they are guaranteeing. Deadbolts go digital. It is the newest thing.

In order to feel safe, you must purchase good performing deadbolts. Paul, the person who owns A1 Agent Locksmith located within Bradenton, FL, always educates his customers whenever he is on the job helping his community. Whether you are changing the locks on your residence or re-keying your locks, Paul takes the time to help you understand your best options for keep criminals out and your home safe.

People all over the world are in agreement when it comes to the protection of your home or personal belongings. Sally Fisher understands this very well. She purchased standard door locks when moving into her new home. The very next day she was burglarized and her property was damaged as well as some items were stolen. She stated that if she had only known more information regarding the type of locks she needed, then her family as well as her home would have felt a little safer. Deadbolts go digital can be a blessing to some people. It can't be hacked so you are in great hands.

We've come to realize that you can not be over protective when it comes to your home and family. We had the pleasure of speaking the Chief of the Palmetto Police Department. Staff Sargent Billy Thompson stated that sometimes one deadbolt lock does not always do the trick. Having multiple locks even on the same door results in the maximum security that your door can possess. Not only will it help you sleep at night, but it will also deter the criminals from trying to break into your home again.

However, having a digital lock is becoming more prominent in the locksmith industry today. There are numerous department stores as well as brands that are becoming up to date with technology. In the sense of being digital, the technology these days have made it available to view your home from anywhere in the world. With digital locks, you are capable of securing your doors electronically from your smart phone or any laptop that is available to you. Deadbolts go digital, present methods which are designed to inform you when your house is being unlocked. It is designed to alert the person know when someone is entering the home or unlocking the door. That is very helpful when you have children and are concerned about their safety. You now can have a piece of mind to know that they have made it home and inside safely.

Deadbolts Go Digital

Nevertheless, a standard or highly powered deadbolt lock both include a main focus, safety. And yet protection specialists have the same opinion that locking of doors and windows should be the main contributor for your well being. Just remember that your main focus in not just on the entrance to your home. There are others easy accesses that you must consider as well so be sure that you focus on the entire residence along with the surroundings of your home. Your digital lock is basically as powerful and equivalent in force as your door. You must apply as much time and effort in choosing a safe lock as you would searching for the proper door to keep out criminals. Another thing we all must think about is how experienced are these burglars? It is very time consuming to break into a persons home if you do not know what your doing. These criminals are very experienced so breaking in your home is an easy thing for them to complete. We must make it as complicated for them as we can. Then when they realize that your door is well equipped with secure deadbolts, then you will no longer be the target. Deadbolts go digital is a great thing.

An important thing to remember regarding your well being, states Sarah Smithson, is making your property more challenging to access over the person who lives next to you. Although you may not know it, your property is easier than you think when the criminal is choosing a home to break into. By looking at the security device that was installed on your door, you can see whether or not it is digital by the style and type of your handle. This is not necessarily going to target you immediately, however it may be a good sign for an easy robbery. Keep in mind however that even a security lock can be damaged if your door frame is not well built. When consulting your local authorities or locksmith, they will advise you to purchased a door that comes equipped with a metal border. These speciality door frames are made from the toughest material so criminals are not able to destroy them. Some extra features for safety are metal pieces that you can put at the bottom of the door. It will help to deter the robber from trying to kick down your door.

Everyone loves a brand new door being installed. You are able to pick out decorative glass or a plain style door. Be careful when choosing doors with a lot of glass panels as that will catch the eye of robbers. And even though it looks pretty it will make you an east target. You can choose different types of locks for different types of doors. If you are looking for a difficult lock to break into then you may consider a dual chamber deadbolt. Locks such as these categories are secured not only outside of the door, but internally as well. This type helps because you are not able to open this lock with a simple turn. However, in the case of an emergency, it can be difficult to have a quick escape. Smithson states that it might be helpful if you store your keys near or around the door so you will have easy access to them, whatever the circumstance may be, to get out. If there ever was a robber to intrude your house, an easy way is to simply break a glass window or pane. And although it appears to be a quick solution, it is not always the brightest idea. When breaking glass, you must consider those around you. Anyone in the general area of the home is able to hear glass breaking. This thought will usually scare away the robber and force them to another home. Deadbolts go digital is a great way to protect your home.

Just for example as how technology has evolved, manufacturers have designed a programmable safety lock. You can choose locks that are designed to enter a number as the code which helps reduce the problem of doors being being pried open. Dwayne Tosh, a Supervisor for Operations with Kwikset, acknowledge that many of the products have downsides. Every now and then, the security device is unable to fasten since your door might not be sealed completely. As soon as the mechanism starts activating, the family will have a feeling of relief knowing that the door is locked. However, it might not be closed properly so their safety is a concern. The company Kwikset includes an illuminated indicator that will show you if the lock has been sealed correctly. In these cases, majority of the safety lock software will cost you more than a standard lock when having them installed. Your local locksmith will be able to advise you of pricing options to assure you the best quality for your budget. Deadbolts go digital is the newest, best option to have with your locks.

Call Center Scams

Call Center Scams

Call center scams are becoming more popular these days. We try to inform everyone to watch out for these call center scams who charge you hidden fees.

By
Call Center Scams Bradenton, FL

(Bradenton, FL) - Over the last several years, there has been an enormous influx of call center scams popping up all over our nation. They have several people who are employed that are not locksmiths nor are qualified in the profession. Running a call center is a very easy process.

First you would call a phone number that you would think is local, but unfortunately its not. That phone is forwarded to another state. The individual will explain their issues that they're having and the employee will try to contact someone who is located in their city until they can find someone to assist them. The employee will then quote you a ridiculously low amount for the issues you have explained so that they can secure your locksmith job. But what you wont know is that you will be waiting anywhere from 30-60 minutes until someone finally shows up, examines the situation and then explains to you that there are issues with your locks so he will have to drill them. By this time, your patience is gone and frustration is setting in so you agree on what the "locksmith" has advised you what the best option is going to be. So your locks are drilled because they have every intention to do so from the very beginning and they then install the cheapest quality locks possible purchased from your local hardware store. The high quality lock that you thought was being installed was roughly about $20 at Home Depot, but managed to turn around and charge you anywhere from $75-$125 per lock. By the time they are finally finished, they hand you the total bill which has included a service call, labor for drilling your locks, plus the locks he replaced. So what should have a simple lockout costing you about $69, ends up being your worst nightmare with a charge of $300-$500. Television News programs such as 60 minutes and Bay News 9, have aired programs of fraudulent call centers stings to make the public aware of these scams that are going on in your local city.

If you are ever needing a locksmith, please be sure to check if they are a qualified locksmith with an actual business. Don't be afraid to ask for further information. You need to know their business name, the name of the person who will be coming to assist you, the vehicle they are driving, the total quote amount with no hidden fees, etc. Don't be afraid to ask questions to see if they are doing call center scams.

Now, if you have a car lockout, they will try to quote you a cheap price lie $30. Once they have opened your vehicle, they then will try to charge you $130. When you try to argue why the amount is so high, they will respond by saying, your quoted amount was $30 and the service call was $100. The way the call center scams work is that you are given an amount over the phone but then charged, service calls, labor, driving expenses, etc. So you must always remember that no matter what service you are in need of, if it sounds too good to be true, then it usually is. Call center scams make everything sound great. Don't be fooled by those call center scams. Instead, ask a lot of questions to see if they can respond normally. Then you will know if it is a call center scams or not.

What so many people fail to realize is that locksmith companies have expenses just like every other business. Sometimes customers will say to me "Why is the amount so high for only 2 minutes of work?". The answer is simple. There is a daytime rate of $69 which is remarkably low for the work we do. The amount is calculated by the distance traveled to you and from the job, gas as well as time spent driving. Not to mention that any real Locksmith Company has insurance bonding and licensing, which all costs money. It's funny how when your driving and you see bumper stickers all over work vehicles that say they are a licensed contractor. Well it is the same when you are hiring a Locksmith. Our business costs are the same as any other company you would hire. We have to provide professional technicians to assist you in with your issues, advertising our business as well maintaining a professional business with expenses. What if someone works on your vehicle or enters your home and they are not insured? They could break something or get injured on the job. Then what would you do? If that company could not afford insurance than do you really think they are going to pay for damages? No, they will tell you to claim it on your car insurance, homeowners insurance or even worse, they could personally sue you.

One of the top reasons that transportation costs are so high, is because when someone calls several locksmiths at one time trying to see who is the fastest to respond, each Locksmith you have called has to drive to get to you. So basically each company is sending an employee unaware of any other company driving to the same call at the same time. To the company who gets there first is ok. But for every other person who arrived after them, they have now wasted their time, gas, etc in trying to assist you. Even worse, when other companies finally show up, the customer is either gone or our competitor is currently working on the job. Meanwhile, the customer has no concern or compassion to call back the other companies after someone has arrived. It is the same concept as if someone were to steal from Walmart, it drives the prices up for everyone else. People fail to realize or care that when a business sends an employee and the customer is gone, the business loses money. Going to what is called a "Ghost Call", will end up raising prices for all other potential customers due to one persons actions. We as Locksmith companies just ask for you to be considerate whenever you have called multiple companies to assist you. Return the call to stop them from time that could've been helping someone else. It is appreciated more than you would think. What if this happened to you?

So again when you are searching for a locksmith, you need to know their business name, the name of the person who will be coming to assist you, the vehicle they are driving, the total quote amount with no hidden fees, to ensure you get a qualified Locksmith to assist you properly. And you should always remember, the lowest quote is not always going to be your best option and be considerate of your Locksmith. Also, ask if their company has an "On Time" guarantee for lockouts? We at A1 Agent pride ourselves for being prompt. We are also the only Locksmith in Bradenton who offers an on time guarantee. Nevertheless, we have expenses just like every other business and these expenses must be considered when providing a service to you. Usually the lower priced Locksmith companies are not bonded, licensed or insured because that is the only way to keep their costs cheap. If you are willing to gamble on having an uninsured Locksmith come to your house or vehicle, you are assuming all responsibility for that person. If someone enters your home and they are not insured, they could break something or get injured on the job. Then what would you do? If that company could not afford insurance than do you really think they are going to pay for damages? Of course not. But if you did a little extra research when finding a Locksmith, it will actually save you money in the end.

Be sure to go to our News Section and watch our videos regarding Locksmith Scams, Call Centers, etc. Locksmith scams are not always about scamming money from you. If a Locksmith claims to be in business for 15 years and shows up using a bump key to unlock your house, be afraid, Be VERY afraid. Any true Locksmith will never use a bump key to open your door and those who use them are usually not Locksmiths at all. See my article about Bump Keys and how fraudulent Locksmiths use them.

Ultimately, ask yourself this the next time you find yourself locked out and calling around locksmith companies, what time is it now, is it a holiday and how far aware are you? You should try to remember when a locksmith gets a call after midnight, you are then paying for that person to get out of bed, get dressed and drive to your location. That person must also wake up by 8am to start the next day of work which can certainly take a tole on someone who hasn't had a lot of sleep. Nevertheless, you should think about how much would your employer have to pay for you to wake up in the middle of the night to work for about an hour? Most people would not even answer the phone or would charge you a lot of money to help you, unlike me. I run the late night calls because I care about people in general and that is how my father ran his Locksmith company. When I was a child, he used to say that lockouts are like 911 emergency calls for us. We would run as fast as possible because we would ask ourselves how would we feel if we were to be locked out. And as a locksmith, we provide emergency services to you no matter what the situation is. But all too often, these Call Center scams have affected our trade. Please make sure you gather all your information or you will be scammed next.

Thats Chicago Security Solutions purchased the company and hired me as their newest employee. I decided to go with that company above my other employers seeing as it was very well established. Dont Get Scammed

This video is to inform you that there are numerous scams in the locksmith industry today. Whether you are locked out of your place of business, your residence, or even locked out of your car, you need to be on alert whenever you call a locksmith. There are several signs to look for when trying to choose a locksmith. We are here to help you avoid being in a bad situation. Dont get scammed by unprofessional locksmith companies. If you are unsure of the company you hired, ask around. Dont get scammed before knowing all your information about the company.

In every profession large or small, you may find that there are individuals who try to find ways to bend the rules or scam the system. Whether someone is trying to get more discounts than what they should be receiving or a business trying to raise the prices to scam you out of money. Either way, a scam is a scam!

In the Locksmith profession, there are several scams that businesses try to wrap you up in. The standard procedure for hiring a Locksmith is actually simpler than you think. You find a locksmith and contact them. You then explain the technician your current situation and why you are needing assistance from them. Then they will base a charge depending upon the amount of work that is needed for your request. However, the scam with this type of situation is that you may be told one amount over the phone but that amount might not include a service call or other fees.

Withholding information is the largest scam in the Locksmith business. A standard Locksmith usually has a service or call charge and then the charge of the work that was done. There are also Call Centers that are not local that give you quotes over the phone that may be incorrect. For example, you try to call a Locksmith company. The person informs you that a technician will be contacted and sent to your location. They will price you a standard quote for having the technician come out to you. Once the technician arrives, the technician will then give you a different amount for the charge and then blame it on the person who you were talking to. Either way, the Locksmith company is scamming you for more money. Dont get scammed by fake locksmith companies.

Dont Get Scammed

The second largest scam in the Locksmith business is that the technician will try and attempt to unlock your residential door lock. After a short while, he may tell you that you need brand new locks or that your locks are broken and he needs to replace them, which may not be true. This is scamming you into forcing you to buy new parts, which will then cost you more money in the long run. You might even have a job as simple as rekeying a lock which does not cost as much. But before the job is done, he might inform you that the lock is broken and now you must pay for a new one.

These are a few examples on how you can protect yourself from being a scammed victim:

Step 1: Do a little research regarding the company. Read reviews online and look over their website to verify that they are a real company.
Step 2: Ask for an estimate over the phone. If they quote you a price but say fees are subject to change, then that's a scam. Hang up.
Step 3: Ask what vehicle the Locksmith will be driving. If an unmarked vehicle pulls up and the technician looks suspicious, then end it right there.
Step 4: Before he even starts the job, verify the amount you were quoted before he touches anything.
Step 5: Do not give him money if you are not happy with the work he did. Especially if he drilled or broke your lock.
Step 6: Get a receipt and job description on the company's letter head paper. If he doesn't have that, then that's a sign of a fake Locksmith company.

It can be very difficult trying to pay attention to all the details when you are having issues. Knowing who to call and explaining all the details can be an overwhelming experience. A suggestion would be, if you are ever in a predicament that involves service charges or having a technician come to your home or vehicle, make sure you write everything down so you can verify with the company regarding who said what. It may even save you a little money and help you from being a victim of a Locksmith scam.
